Kuhnhenn Brewing Company • Warren, MI

In a popular 80's sitcom that centered around a bar owned by a retired Boston Red Sox pitcher there was a premise that everyone new your name, alluding to the bars friendly atmosphere. Of course this was just a make-believe bar that only existed in the minds of script writers. However I am here to tell you that a place with that sort of friendly atmosphere does exist right here in Warren MI, I am speaking about Kuhnhenn Brewing Company on Chicago Road.
I am a firm believer that every establishment has a personality and this is certainly the case with Kuhnhenn's. It has an ‘at home’ comfortable atmosphere were everyone is made to feel at ease. As a matter of fact I call it my “happy place.” I do so because when I am there I look around at the faces of those who are also there and I never see anyone frowning or with a stressed look on their face. Instead I see broad smiles and happy people who are engaged in conversations that probably involve nothing more serious than a discussion over which one of the many wonderful beers that Kuhnhenn's has on tap should they get next.
Did I say many beers? I sure did because Kuhnhenn's has many world class beers in their stable, some of them quite famous among the beer connoisseur's community. Take for instance their Raspberry Eisbock. This beer pours a dark ruby brown in color with little-to-no head. There is a scent of raspberries, maraschino cherries, molasses, chocolate, earth, with a hint of alcohol. It tastes almost as its aroma suggests with rich raspberries, cherries, chocolate, molasses, and just a touch of alcohol that gives you a bit of warmth as you are sipping. This is a full bodied beer that coats the tongue as it goes down. A special world class treat that is not only a crowd pleaser here in Warren, but also a beer that has found celebrity-like status in other states as well.
